Med Group Billings & Collections, Inc. (“Med Group”) was formed in August 1986 to provide patient billing and collection services to area emergency room physicians. MCD Emergency Physicians, at Medical City Dallas, was Med Group’s first client. 

Since 1986, Med Group has evolved to provide quality full service billing to a variety of other specialties we have billed for including surgeons (general, breast, orthopedic, thoracic, cardiothoracic, pediatric), family practice, pediatrics, dermatology, cardiology, neurology, internal medicine, gastroenterology, OB/GYN, psychiatry, and durable medical equipment.

We have always stayed current and up to date with the latest federal and regulatory policies to insure proper billing and maximize reimbursement for our clients. All medical processionals realize the importance of keeping up with the ever changing laws at both a state and federal level, however, keeping up with these changes can be a full time job in itself.

Med Group’s success has come from professional diligent and experienced personnel, up to date computer and electronic billing and remittance technology, thorough insurance claims and patient receivable follow up, and custom programmed financial analysis. This methodology reduces medical billing and coding errors to maximize productivity, efficiency, effectiveness and returns.

In 1991, Med Group started providing practice management and consulting services. Through detailed evaluation of medical practices, inefficiencies are found that produce financial rewards for our clients many times greater than the cost of our services. Medical professionals have found it very beneficial and affordable to have at least a brief audit on a quarterly or semi-annual basis. These audits ensure productivity, efficiency and effectiveness are maintained within your practices.

In 1992, Med Group became charter members of a newly formed professional association of third party billers known as the International Billing Association. Med Group has been very active in this association since it’s inception. The association was renamed Healthcare Billing & Management Association (HBMA) in 1998 to better describe it’s objectives and members. 

The President of Med Group, Chuck Barker, has served on the national Board of Directors since 1992, and is now the President of HBMA. Karen Linsteadt, Director of Operations, services on the Certification Committee. Med Group attends two educational meetings per year with this association, and Chuck and Karen are both Certified Healthcare Billing & Management Executives. Med Group and all members of HBMA abide by the attached Code of Ethics.

In 1997, Med Group began success-fully providing “on-line” services to clients in and outside our immediate geographical area. We currently have six doctors offices directly on line with our computer system through high speed data lines from remote locations. In addition, we have two offices in the Dallas area that are on line with our computer system. These offices are able to enter data directly into our system, utilize our appointment scheduler, view patient accounts, and have up to date information on a daily basis.
